When the two of us met we both were looking for a space in which we could express ourselves truthfully. Many times—no matter where you are working—the goal is to produce and create for the restaurant or bakery itself, not necessarily for oneself. This first step and pop-up was our beginning opportunity to truly create with our personal styles. Blair at Brown Bear Bakery in Cincinnati, OH was gracious enough to allow us to do so within her space. Brown Bear Bakery is a staple in the Cincinnati community. We wanted to be able to give honor and give homage within bon bon form to the community legend that is Brown Bear Bakery. We did so by creating two of our bon bon flavors to reflect Brown Bear classics, the Raspberry Almond Danish and the Blackberry Tarragon Slab Pie.

Moving from there, we wanted to play upon duality. Both of us have very similar palettes, but the way in which we draw inspiration and create are opposing. Between our childhood inspirations and cultures, we draw from very different flavors and memories, yet still produce creations that flow within a similar vibration. Collectively, we chose a medium of pastry and both created a mirrored dish that represented each of us individually. Our bon bon collection did the same, mirroring one another while drawing inspiration from extremely different sources.
